Both the children and staff have been absolutely delighted this term with our revamped Computing Suite.

All the PC’s in the school’s Computing Suite have been replaced plus 70 ‘iPad’ tablet computers were also introduced into the school.

School staff had fun at the initial tablet training session getting to grips with the iPad settings and experimenting with the new Apps that had been downloaded in readiness for sharing these with the children.

The iPads caused a huge stir amongst the children: “I was so excited when I heard about the school getting iPads – and now they are fabulous” Ruby commented “When I first turned the iPad on I was like…WOW!”

With their easy to use touch-screens the iPads have enabled children as young as 4 years old in our Reception Classes to get involved. The teaching staff have welcomed the addition of tablets into the classroom setting. Our Early Years staff have also been using them throughout the school day to record observations and other information for the children’s individual Learning Journeys – this is proving to be hugely beneficial and time saving. Further up the school the tablets are being regularly used in lots of different lessons.

Recommended Apps are continuing to be added, Jessica commented that “There are lots of different Apps to explore” and Fred added “I am really excited about the maths games because I love maths.”

As well as for learning and reference the children will be using the tablets in many different ways in school including capturing photographs and making videos – making learning even more engaging at Abbots Green.
