Hello all, welcome to the February update from the Moreton Hall Community Centre and Club!

We’ve got lots planned this year for the 30th anniversary of the club and 15th anniversary of the new community centre building, built as part of a lottery funded project for the Moreton Hall community. We’ve come a long way since the building, and to celebrate it we’ve got a year packed with events and offers for the surrounding community!

In February, we see the reprieve of the Saturday night bingo sessions from the Club Chairman, Colin Houghton. The first of these sessions is on Saturday 21st February, with the usual format as before – kid’s games to start with various edible goodies up for grabs, then later on playing for cash for the grown ups! This is the first of three sessions, and the last session (on the 14th April) sees the jackpot game! Starts from 8pm, all welcome.

On Saturday 14th February, in honour of Valentine’s Day, we’re having a Mr & Mrs Quiz at the club! Don’t worry, you won’t be airing your dirty laundry in front of an audience, but we will need about 20 couples in to make this night a success! Starts from 8pm with the usual format for our quizzes, apart from the fact that you’ll be playing in couples rather than teams of 6! Again, sign up at the bar if you’re interested in a bit of a different quiz at the club.

On Saturday 28th February, we’re hosting a Casino Night as we did 2 years ago! There will be Blackjack, Craps and Roulette with the highest rollers of the tables winning some great prizes! Come on down for a bit of fun and a Casino experience. Starts from 8pm, with free entry!

Memberships are selling fast at the club, we’re already up to 360 members, so if you haven’t renewed yours yet (or convinced everyone you know to join up), make sure you do to receive 13.5% off drinks prices, 10% off hiring the hall, as well as access to great events and brilliant promotions throughout the year, especially in light of our anniversary! It’s £15 for a family/couple membership, £7.50 for a single, and free for the over 65s. Available at the bar now.

On 30th January we also changed our menu slightly – we have streamlined the choices available in a bid to sell more of what we can see the members like, and introduced a couple of promotions.

Instead of the 2-4-1 on Friday from 12-2pm, we’re changing it slightly to still offer great value but tempt those who maybe come down in an “odd” number – from 12-2pm every Friday our menu will be discounted to the brilliant price of £3.99 for each item of the bar menu, with the exception of steak and ribs which will be discounted to £5.99! That’s one of the best deals in town, so why not join us and try our lovely menu?

On Sunday, we’ve got a reputation for a great Sunday Roast at an amazing price, so we thought we should try and take it one step further by offering a choice of starter as well as a dessert! The prices will now reflect your choice on the day for how hungry you are: 1 course – £5.95, 2 courses – £7.25, 3 courses – £7.95! We believe this represents tremendous value for what is a freshly cooked roast dinner complete with homemade Yorkshires that dominate the plate! Served 12-6pm every Sunday, it really is too good to miss.

We’ve got a loyalty card for the football fans, so we thought we’d introduce one for all those who come dine with us on a regular basis. When we serve food on a Friday evening on Saturday (Friday 5 – 7:30pm, Saturday 3 – 7:30pm), when you buy a full price adult meal you will get a stamp on your loyalty card which after 6 stamps will entitle you to a free meal, redeemable on a Friday evening or Saturday!

We’re quite happy with our offer to our members, so why not come down and find out why?

On Friday 30th January, in honour of the club’s 30th anniversary, we did the first of our 30% off drinks on that day only instead of the usual 13.5% – this is a deal that we will do every 30th of the month (sorry February) throughout 2015, so make sure you check the calendar and come down for some bargainous beverages at what we like to think is the best members club in town!

Further down the year we’ve got lots planned at the centre for 2015 – in March we have Saturday night bingo, Colin Freeman’s quiz raising money for Clic Sargent on March 21st, the Big Breakfast Eating challenge on 28th March to help support Clare’s fundraising for Age UK for her London Marathon attempt, then Easter related hijinks in April as well as the reprieve of the Family Fortunes Quiz on April 25th!

In May Jukebox Fury will be joining us again at the club on 16th May, and of course the annual Darts Open which this year will see the prize money increase once again! Beyond that lots of 80’s themed nights for our anniversary celebrations, our first beer festival in the works in June, of course our annual Funday in July and lots, lots more! Phew! Come down to see what is going to be a brilliant year at the club and Community Centre – both run by a committee, exclusively for the benefit of our surrounding community.

Hope to see you all soon!
