Local company Frames Conservatories Direct (FCD) have always been enthusiastic about getting involved with the local community and supporting charitable events.  Whether that’s providing kit for local football teams or being the main Club Sponsor at Bury Rugby Club – giving something back to the community which welcomes them is hugely important.  This Christmas they wanted to do something special for primary school children in the area so ran a Christmas Bauble colouring competition and were touched by one particular entry.  The competition was to design a Christmas bauble to win pantomime tickets.  To add a bit more interest for children, the reverse of the bauble invited them to reveal their Christmas Wish in order that it could be passed on to Santa.  FCD received an amazing 550 entries to the competition and chose 9 winners to receive family tickets to the pantomime. The ‘wishes’ ranged from little brothers to Xboxes and from Frozen dresses to snow!  Out of all the entries received however, one child’s Christmas Wish stood out from the rest.

Freya Woodcock age 7 from Fordham Primary School simply wished for a cure for Ebola.  Not something you would expect from a 7 year old girl. The staff t Frames Conservatories Direct were so touched by this that they decided to make her a special winner.  Instead of family tickets to see Cinderella they upgraded her to a box in the Upper Circle for her and 5 members of her family to enjoy the performance.  In addition to that, and more importantly, they made a donation of £150 to the Ebola Crisis Fund in Freya’s name.

When the team contacted Freya’s mum Sarah to tell her how touched they were by her wish Sarah explained that Freya’s awareness of Ebola was bought about seeing news coverage “Freya had seen and heard about Ebola on the news and was asking questions so I explained to her in the simplest way I could what the crisis was all about and how people were suffering.  I too was touched when she chose to put a cure for Ebola as her Christmas Wish – I’m very proud of her”

Adrian Lewis, Managing Director at FCD says:
“We had in the back of our minds that if there was a wish we could grant for a particular child we would.  We never imagined that it would be a wish like this.  While we can’t deliver a cure we hope that the donation on Freya’s behalf will help the cause in providing treatment, clean water, and protective equipment and hygiene kits. We think Freya is a very special little girl”.
