TEN ACRE FIELD

Yet again the acre field was the target of a Saturday night boozing session by about 25 youngsters, and as usual when they finished their drinking session they left beer bottles, cans and the normal rubbish that they leave behind but this time they embellished it with toilet rolls strewn all over the field. Unfortunately, one young man left behind a letter from West Suffolk College inviting him for an interview. The letter was recovered by dog walkers and the information was given to the police. The police paid the young man a visit at his home, he agreed that he was on ten acre field but says he did not leave a mess. His parents were not very happy with him. The walkers collected all the bottles bagged them up and took them to the nearest bin for disposal. Patsy and I collected the beer cans and cleared up all the toilet paper. If only they cleared up after their sessions.

Locality Money

Having now settled into their council work all councillors have been allocated their locality budget to be used to help small projects within their ward. It is not a lot of money but quite useful to pump prime other funding. Your county councillor has the biggest pot to be shared between Moreton Hall and East gate ward. Your councillors for Moreton Hall who have the funds are Terry Buckle, Peter Thompson and I. One project I am trying to help now is for a ramp to help our disabled players get into the changing rooms on Sebert Road football field, I have spoken to the Borough council to get ball rolling.

NEW SCHOOL

Great News, County have given the go ahead, we can now get on with the job. More good news we have our preferred sponsors they are Samuel Ward Academy Trust. Samuel Ward Academy Trust runs the Samuel Ward academy in Haverhill, which is a high school rated as “outstanding” by Ofsted, as well as Thomas Gainsborough, in Great Cornard, and Newmarket Academy. Things are looking good at last. Time is moving on, there is a lot of work to be done 2017 is only 18 months away.

Youth Festival of Flowers and Dragons

Throughout June and July you might have noticed Bury has been awash with dragons and flowers. Most of our schools took part in making flower heads, which are displayed in the Abbey Gardens and dragons which are displayed in the Apex. The children had a wonderful time making these displays and if you have not yet seen them why not pop along to the gardens or the Apex and see their handiwork.

YOUTH CENTRE

The children have broken up for summer holidays and there are going to be many frustrated mum and dads trying to find things for little ones to do. I will, with the help of Patsy, be opening the youth centre each Tuesday from 11am until 3pm during August, all are welcome, bring a picnic and enjoy the amusements provided. We must insist that any children under 8 years must accompanied by an adult. There is a small kitchen, three toilets, games will be left out to be used. Best of all it’s FREE. So come along bring the kids and have fun.

That’s it from me until next time, be careful, Frank Warby
