Welcome to the 19th hole, a place for golf tips, reviews and everything golf related.

Well it had everything! The Open championship had all sorts of twists and turns and severe weatherconditions. On the final day there was so many players that could have won the claret jug but it was America’s Zach Johnson that completed the victory in a three man play off.

We can now look forward to the final major of the year the US PGA Championship at Whistling Straits in August.

Product Review – Treat your feet this year.

My product review for this month is the New Nike Lunar control III golf shoes. Nike tells us that, the incredible Nike Golf Lunar Control III Shoes improve upon its predecessor with a lower profile and a lighter fit. The premium Lunarlon cushioning and dynamic Flywire deliver springy impact protection and support, while the Nike Control Platform delivers incredible stability throughout your swing, allowing you to play in complete comfort.

After using this product all of that information means that they are one of the most comfortable golf shoes I have used in a long time. This game is hard enough; you want to make sure you are comfortable while you are on course trying to produce your best golf.

The styling has modern features but still keeps the stylish appearance the any golfer is after, and with seven different colour ways to choose from you will find one that meets your needs.

I would give these shoes 10/10 in terms of comfort and styling, however with a price tag of £130.00 they will not be on everyone’s shopping list. All I would say is you definitely get what you pay for.

Coaches Corner – Strike it pure for maximum distance

We have all done it, walked onto the tee of a par 5 or long par 4 and thought I have got a hit a massive drive down here to give myself a chance of making a good score.

The only problem with trying to hit this massive drive is it makes it harder for you to control the face of the club and achieve the strike from the sweet spot of the driver face. This will often result in the drive heading off line and shorter than you were after.

So with that in mind here are two great tips to make sure you swing in balance and achieve better strikes when its matters.

Hit it BETTER, NOT harder – This will seem like a strange thing to say when you’re looking for distance, however you need to be able to control the club throughout the swing so that we can strike the ball out of the correct area on the club face, these pure strikes will allow you to add distance and control direction.

Balance – this area is key throughout the golf swing. If you watch the world’s best players they are always so stable after
hitting each shot. This proves they have swung the club at a great rhythm and in balance, this gave them the best possible chance to strike that shot as a good as possible.

If you put these two points into practice when you next want a long drive then I am sure that you will see better results with less effort.
