Bury St Edmunds Leisure Centre awaits with anticipation, the arrival of its new flumes which will be open to the public in the Spring and youngsters are invited to enter a competition to name them.
Work for the flumes has been carried out over the last few months as the old flumes had reached the end of their life.
Abbeycroft Leisure, which manages the Centre in partnership with St Edmundsbury Borough Council, is holding a competition to name each of the two flumes which is open to all youngsters under 12 including schools. The winner will receive free swimming and flume membership for a year. They will also attend the opening and the winning names will be used for the flumes.
Clare Maller, Acting Centre Manager, said: “We are very excited to take delivery of our new flumes next month which we know customers, especially youngsters will enjoy.
“Our competition is aimed at finding two great names for the two new flumes. As well as a free year swim and flume membership, the winner will also be our guest at the official opening.”
To enter, write the names you would give to each of the two brand new flumes and then have a go at writing a short story of no more than 50 words about them and draw or colour an accompanying picture. Entry forms are available from reception at Bury St Edmunds Leisure Centre. The closing date is Monday 16 February.
