A year-long fundraising appeal which saw staff at a Bury St Edmunds company cycle 290 miles across two counties and climb Snowdon has seen more than £13,000 for West Suffolk Hospital’s Rainbow Ward.
The fantastic sum raised by Frames Conservatories Direct in Barton Road, Bury St Edmunds, has seen the Hospital buy a portable cardiac monitor and eight bedside monitors to further support the care they offer to their youngest patients.
Adrian Lewis, managing director at Frames, said: “A year ago, we invited our staff to choose which charity we would support over 12 months.
“We wanted it be a local cause and we were delighted to fundraise for the Rainbow Ward and especially for these vital pieces of equipment.
“We always like to support our local community and make a difference and we are really pleased with what our fundraising has paid for – it is great to see first-hand the difference it has made.
“We would like to thank everyone who supported our fundraising for the Rainbow Ward over the last 12 months. That includes our staff, our business colleagues and friends and also the town’s rugby club, football club and golf club for their support.”
Over the year, the company organised quiz nights, a race night, golf days and a darts night.
Staff also organised charity walks and climbed Snowdon while Mr Lewis was joined by business development manager Steve Savage and other employees and friends to complete a 290-mile cycle ride around Suffolk and Norfolk over three days.
The company visited the Rainbow Ward this week to present the money raised from the year-long fundraising as well as see first-hand what their hard work had paid for.
The equipment will enable young patients to be monitored at their bedside with the oxygen saturation monitors now in every side room on the ward.
Dawn Dorrington, ward manager, said: “We are so thrilled to have been able to purchase this equipment which will make such a big difference. We cannot thank staff at Frames Conservatories Direct and their customers enough.”
Sue Smith, fundraising manager at West Suffolk Hospital Charity, said: “The Rainbow Ward has always had a special place in the heart of the local community and this is wonderful evidence of that.”
