Hello! My name is Daryl Jones and I am the Head Teacher at Hardwick Primary School. I’m really pleased to have been asked to contribute to the very first edition of the Southgate Directory and I hope to do so every month. Hardwick Primary has been serving this community for the past 45 years and during that time the school has been through many changes, but next academic year sees the biggest change that has happened to the school for many years – the move back to a two tier system of education in Bury St Edmunds.
As a result, the school will expand to take the additional two year groups, Years 5 and 6, and our extension consisting of three new classrooms will be built in Spring 2015. Everyone, especially the children are excited at the prospect of staying at their primary school till Year 6. We will of course, along with the contractors, keep you informed of our progress.
The children much enjoyed preparing for the festive season and performing their Christmas plays and what this magical time of year brings. So as we embark on a new term at this exciting time at school we would like to wish you all a very Happy New Year!
