RAF MILDENHALL
It is with sadness that we hear of the closure of RAF Mildenhall after over 65 years. We have many of the families living on our estate and shall be sorry to see them leave. I understand it will take about seven years to complete the closure. About 3,500 servicemen and 2,000 civilian are involved. Most of their operation will be moved to Germany. RAF Lakenheath will not be expected except that it will be getting two more figher- squadrons and about 1,600 servicemen.

VANDALS
Just one month into 2015 and we have vandals driving round our football fields, the field on Heldhaw oad was damaged in the firstweek of January when some mindless idiots decided to drive around in circles leaving gouges in the playing area making it unfit to playon. Some games had to be postponed or cancelled. Hopefully things will be back to normal soon.

The new academy school will be built on Lady Marion Way; it will eventually cater for 1,800 pupils and will include sports facilities available for community use. The National Education Trust has been chosen to run the new academy.Meanwhile work is ongoing around some of the sports facilities to be provided by St Edmundsbury Borough Council working closely with Suffolk County Council on the specifiction of the sports hall which will provide additional leisure provision for the town. Together they are looking to provide a multi-court sports hall, gym and studios for classes as well as a range of outside pitches for football, tennis and other sports. These facilities will be available for all the community. Full details will be revealed when the planning application is submitted around April/May. The cost of the school is estimated to be in the region of £12m. CLUB NEWS
YOUTH CLUB
Thanks to two people offering to help out we can keep going at least for the foreseeable future, it is so hard to get a few people to help. What I would like is for people to come forward and form a committee to run the youth club, this would enable the directors to concentrate on the organisation and administration of the youth centre. So if any of you out there have a few hours free a month please contact me.
