Local businesses in the East of England looking to boost their exporting capabilities are set to benefit from an event hosted by The Department for International Trade’s (DIT) in Bury St Edmunds on 23rd February 2018.
As part of DIT’s Exporting is GREAT campaign, the ‘YOU CAN’ Export event will aim to help businesses get started in overseas trade and will be co-hosted by Bury St Edmunds MP Jo Churchill and the UK’s leading pub company and brewer, Greene King, based in Bury St Edmunds.
The event will provide essential information on the benefits of exporting and the key steps and processes that need to be considered. Businesses will also learn about the ongoing support available from DIT.
In the year to September 2017, East of England businesses exported £21.59bn worth of goods, with the UK exporting £323.6bn worth of goods over the same period. DIT’s Exporting is GREAT campaign aims to help more businesses explore new markets overseas.
The campaign is currently showcasing 30+ UK businesses from a range of sectors and regions to inspire and support firms up and down the country to export.
Alan Pain, Regional Director, East of England, Department for International Trade, said: “The ‘YOU CAN’ export event will provide a great opportunity for businesses across the region to learn more about the opportunities offered by exporting. We’re aiming to encourage, educate and support SMEs as they look to discover new markets.
“There is a strong demand across the world for UK goods and services, and many East of England businesses are already finding success abroad. DIT is on hand to help firms manage common barriers to exporting such as cost, language and administration.
“The event will run alongside other initiatives including meet the buyer events, trade missions and masterclasses on exporting and selling online, for businesses across the region.”
