WE ARE YOUR LOCAL CHURCH BASED IN SOUTHGATE CENTRE SERVING OUR WHOLE COMMUNITY. DO COME AND JOIN US ONE SUNDAY OR FOR ONE OF OUR MANY MID-WEEK ACTIVITIES FOR ALL AGES. CHILDREN ARE PARTICULARLY WELCOME TO OUR NEW SUNDAY CLUB WHICH MEETS BETWEEN 1015 AND 1145.

The summer is here! School’s out but there’s still lots going on for children and young people at Southgate Church.

We’re kicking off with a fantastic Summer Sunday Club for children and young people of all ages. It starts each Sunday
in Southgate Community Centre at 10.30am and finishes at 11.45am. There are bible stories, craft, games, prayer activities and much more! Parents and carers can drop children off and join the worship service which takes place in the community centre or they can have some time out and pick the children up when the club finishes. Everyone is welcome to come along so if your children are missing their regular clubs during the holidays, come along on and join us for Summer Sunday Club!

Congratulations

We’ve got good news to celebrate! Our oldest youth group, Liquid, has just won an award! They have been voted winners of the Community Action Suffolk Anne Dunford OBE Award for Youth Participation. This is for a group who have taken a leadership role in a decision making process for the benefit of young people. Liquid were nominated for the brilliant work they did last year on a film project ‘Zero Tolerance’.

All aged between 13 and 17 years old, they produced a short film to help young people address the subject of bullying. They were involved in every aspect of the work, discussing aspects of mental health which affect young people, choosing the initial topic, coming up with a storyline, scriptwriting, casting, acting, lighting, sound, filming and choosing a location. They even organised a premiere for their family, friends and church members.

The young people worked brilliantly together as a team, supporting and encouraging each other and valuing every member of the group.

The film is currently available to view on The Source website, giving information and advice. Do take a look and see for yourself what great young people we have in our community. Well done Liquid!
