If you go along to the Christmas Fayre you’ll never believe your eyes… because brilliant bears will be bustling into Bury St Edmunds at the end of next month.

The 11th Bury Christmas Fayre takes place from 27-30 November and this year we are inviting you to bring your bear to the fayre. If you don’t have a bear don’t worry – we have 400 to give away from Moyse’s Hall Museum every Wednesday from next Wednesday (29).

Simply take a selfie of you and your bear at the fayre and post it on Twitter using the hashtag #FayreBear to be in with a chance of winning vouchers courtesy of OurBuryStEdmunds. For those not on Twitter, you can post your selfies on Facebook and share with the Bury St Edmunds Christmas Fayre Facebook page.

Mayor of St Edmundsbury Cllr Robert Everitt said: “I have had my own bear, Teddy, all of my life and have taken good care of him. He has been skiing with me, he has been to the Ardeche – he is a well travelled bear. We will be looking for the most imaginative bear selfies, taken and shared with us over the Christmas Fayre weekend.”

Cllr Everitt, together with Mark Cordell, chief executive of OurBuryStEdmunds, will judge the best #FayreBear selfie.

“This is a great way for people to interact via social media at the Christmas Fayre and I am sure that it will capture the imagination of the thousands of shoppers that visit the town over the four days. I expect to see Bury bursting with bears, big or small, bright and decorated in various Christmas themed guises,” Mr Cordell said

Meanwhile the 11th Christmas Fayre is shaping up to be the biggest yet, bringing thousands of visitors from far and wide, as well as providing a  massive economic boost to retailers and other businesses in the town.
